Three PCB types and Benefits: Buzz from Industry Expert

What is PCB?

A printed circuit board (PCB) is a slender board produced using fiberglass, composite epoxy and some other laminated materials. PCB is usually found in various electronic components such as beepers, radio, computer systems, and radars. These circuits are created by a slight layer of directing material kept outwardly of protecting sheets called the substrate. PCB manufacturing is done in such a way that all the parts are linked electrically to the circuits by two different methods named as Hole Technology and surface mount.

Different type of PCB mainly includes the following:

Single Sided PCB:

As per the PCB assembly services the Single Sided Printed circuit board consists of only one layer of base material or substrate. One finish of the substrate is covered with a slender layer of metal, ordinarily copper since it is a good conductor of heat and electricity. PCB includes various electronic components but on single side and this module works most excellent for easy electronics and generally it is used by beginners.

Benefits of Single Sided PCB:

  • Ease of repair and diagnostic
  • Saves Time
  • Low Electric Noise
  • Low cost and more reliable

Double Sided PCB:

Double Sided PCB is also termed as two layered PCB and it is a type which has conductive copper layers on both the sides of the board. Such Double Sided PCB is widely used in many electronic industries ranging from intermediate to complex circuits. Today Double Sided PCB is perhaps the most popular type of PCB in the industry and also amongst the leading PCB assembly companies in India

Benefits of Double Sided PCB:

  • More flexibility for designers
  • Increases Circuit density
  • Relatively lower costs
  • Reduced board size

Multi-Layered PCB:

Making it obvious, Multi Layered Assembly have at least three layers of conductive copper foil which are usually present in the centre of the material and they are laminated and glued together with the layers of heat- protective insulation between them. The multi layered PCB appeared because of the developing changes in the electronic business

Benefits of Multi Layered PCB:

  • Lightweight construction
  • Enhanced flexibility
  • Single connection point
  • Increased Durability
  • High Quality and Reliability

Hence, the above mentioned are the important types of PCB which are usually taken into consideration. If you are confused about the right type of PCB for a device or application you can consult an Industry Expert. Feel free to contact Jayshree Instruments for more detailed information.
